About the Wellington Medical Library
Wellington Medical Library's mission is the promotion and provision
of client-focused, quality health information through service
excellence. More...
The Wellington Medical Library incorporates the former BMA (NZ)
Headquarters library and the Wellington Hospital library. It houses
approximately 14,000 books, with a strong core reference collection.
Current journal subscriptions number 600 and are complemented
with an ever increasing electronic collection.
The Library is jointly funded by Otago
University and Capital and
Coast District Health Board. This dual funding underscores the
library's joint responsibilities - to support, on the one hand,
the teaching and research programmes of the School of Medicine,
and on the other, to serve as an information resource for hospitals
and individual health professionals, within the region.
The Library works in close contact with hospital libraries at
Porirua (now based in Wellington), Kenepuru and Hutt, and it regularly
provides information in response to direct requests from all over
the country.
