Department of Pathology & Molecular Medicine

Photo of microscopeThe Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine is a multidisciplinary unit in which the subdisciplines of haematology, microbiology, chemical pathology, anatomical pathology and molecular pathology are represented.

The objectives of the department are:

  1. To provide an undergraduate teaching programme in pathology that is based on current concepts of disease processes and that will provide the successful student with a knowledge core upon which to develop clinical competency in the diagnosis and management of disease.
  2. To maintain and where appropriate further develop a strong research base in order to enhance the teaching activities of the department and to attract high calibre post graduate students.
  3. To contribute to the development of pathology by leadership or active participation in relevant professional and Government bodies.
