Primary Mental Health Evaluation

The Primary Mental Health Initiatives programme in Primary Health Organisations (PHOs) is being undertaken to develop PHOs and support the implementation of the Primary Health Care Strategy. As part of the programme development, the Ministry of Health are also funding an evaluation.

This evaluation is being completed by a group of researchers from the University of Otago. The group has experience of clinical, research and evaluation work in both primary care and mental health and consists of members of the Mental Health in General Practice Investigation and Evaluation (MaGPIe) team together with additional expertise to provide specific nursing perspectives and Mäori health input.

The evaluation was originally intended to run until February 2007 but has now been extended until June 2008.
