Certificate in Health Promotion :: Dept of Public Health
The Certificate in Health Promotion is a four-paper programme designed
to develop practical knowledge and up-to-date skills in health promotion.
It enables students to work with New Zealanders to improve their
health. It is directed towards people currently working in the New
Zealand health services and those resident in New Zealand who wish
to work in that area in the future. The Certificate is a distance
learning programme that allows students to attend class from their
own home or workplace.
The Certificate involves a practical study of the five health
promotion strategies of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion:
developing healthy public policy, creating supportive environments,
strengthening community action, developing personal skills, and
reorienting the health sector. The course emphasises Maori health
promotion and the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi to effective
health promotion in New Zealand. More
