Overview He Kainga Oranga, the Housing and Health Research Programme, is an HRC funded programme that seeks to examine and elucidate the links between Housing and Health. Although it is known that there is an association between poor housing and ill health the links that make up the causal chain have been poorly understood. By both conducting our own studies and examining existing evidence we will establish more clearly and quantify the associations between the indoor environments and health. This will enable us to identify and then evaluate housing-related interventions to improve individual, family and community health. Our multi-disciplinary team has expertise in both qualitative and quantative disciplines. We aim to use the most appropriate methodology for our work from discourse analysis to building science to biostatistics.
