Presentation on trends in ethnic inequalities in mortality in New Zealand
NZCMS data has shown that there is considerable heterogeneity in death rates between Cook Island Maori, Tongan, Niuean and Samoan people living in New Zealand. In particular, Cook Island Maori have 66% higher cardiovascular mortality than Samoan. This paper is found in the New Zealand Medical Journal summarising the findings.
The global financial crisis of 2008/09 is now manifesting as high unemployment rates in New Zealand. This paper in the New Zealand Medical Journal seeks to predict the mortality impacts from the current recession.
